Day 40: Self-reflecting candy bar

Today's challenge was to design a candy bar that reflects who you are. Being the kick-off day of nearly official health in the office, we are still getting back into the swing of things! We are happy to have Heather back, hopefully the rest of the start of spring will be a healthy one!

Day 39: Drop Cap

Alas! The team is reunited once more. Although still feeling a bit under the weather, Heather is back in the office. We thought we'd kick off the ending of our design slum with a simple one-- a drop cap. The website this was inspired by, was actually one of the reasons we started doing this in the first place! Check it out, it's all kinds of fancy: the daily drop cap

Get down with the sickness...

This week has turned out to be the week of sickness for our office; not only has this silly bug taken out baby Lyla, but also our editor, account execs, and Heather... needless to say, the hand sanitizer has been flying around the office.

So, here's to everyone feeling better! Many apologies to the lapse in our daily designing. We take great pride in doing this *nearly* everyday (deadlines permitting) and nothing would take us out except the PREMIER MEDIA PLAGUE! AAARG!

Day 38: MS Paint object challenge

Today Heather was out of the office taking care of her little one, so I kidnapped Elisa once more to take part and continue our challenge. Today the challenge was to design an object found on your desk in Microsoft Paint. Which, surprisingly, is much harder than you'd think it would be! I made our Monogrammed office lady mug (all the ladies in the office have the same Mug from Anthropologie) and Elisa designed a frame featuring her future hubby-to-be, Ryan, and Shih Tzu, Beefy.

Day 37: Stash Tea Redesign

Today's challenge was to redesign Stash's Peppermint Tea bags. After brainstorming new design ideas for our little bowl, random everyday objects suddenly become the butt of a daily challenge... and being avid tea-drinkers, the tea label was bound to be next! We are finding, also, that as time goes on, our challenges are becoming a little more strange. Fun, but strange...

Day 36: Modernize your favorite fairytale character

Today's challenge was... very hard to do in 15 minutes. It's funny; the time crunch made us each go seperate ways-- Heather had a better idea and less time to execute, and I had a funner time with the drawing and less time on the idea. Heather's plan was to give little red riding hood an 'update' (Snazzy!) and I just decided that Hansel and Gretel wouldn't be cute little children like in the story, but rather little Fatty McFatFats. Oh well!

Day 35: Fashion gone wrong

Today's challenge was to illustrate a fashion trend that you hate. This was a bit difficult for Heather, who believes in just about all fashion... however, it was both very easy for us to agree that neon is a horrible idea and should never be used as clothing. Or decoration. Or anything else for that matter.

Day 34: Thank You Card

Today's challenge was simple, which was good for our tired, weekend-ridden Monday brains. Thank-you cards are always a fun way to stretch the design muscles!

An old fart...

Ah, Friday! As the week comes to a close I am sad to report that there will be no farts today... Heather was out of the office due to her little one being sick, so instead I thought I would post a bit of randomness. Heather's 'contribution' for today (contribution meaning, I wanted to post baby pictures!) is Lyla, and mine is an old photo of a sweet potato shrimp. (Not having children or fuzzy animals, I must compromise!) Enjoy and have a great weekend!

Day 33: Comfort Food

Today's theme was comfort food. And let me tell you, there's nothing worse (or better, rather!) than thinking about your favorite home cookin' bright and early in the morning. Early lunch, anyone??

Day 32: Fido Business Cards

Today's challenge was to design a business card for Fido; a logo from a previous challenge. (Today was my rough day-- and attempt at a rice bag! Every once in awhile 15 minutes goes by much too fast. The neatest thing about theoretical challenges is not having to cut yourself off from expensive things-- like die-cuts!)

Day 31: Making the Ugly Pretty Once More

Today's challenge was to take something you find to be ugly, and make it beautiful. This arose a bit of silliness around here, as well as a bit of debate... are butts actually considered ugly? Especially the big ones? Is it really possible to class up a unibrow? I think Holly had the right idea on this one. Her groceries are actually snazzy!

Day 30: e10 Creative

Today's challenge was to design a logo for Ethan's creative services, e10 Creative. (Ethan is our Assistant Editor). Apparently both Heather and I thought he needed to be using a typewriter-- here you go, E!
